Where the lamps are recharged !

The room for the miners' lamps !

These are the shelves where the lamps are recharged with energy. Each miner has a certain number and puts his lamp to the corresponding place in the shelves. There the part containing the bulb is hung in a loading unit in order to reload the lamp until the next shift begins.

If I compare the amount of shelves in that room when the photo was taken to the times when the colliery was independent, I can see the change. With each colliery a part of a town, a lot of history and a lot of employment dies away.   Right ??

Obviously it was fairly windy in there, sorry that the photo is not really vertical ;-).
